Everyone Will Nation Build
I don't see enough people talking about the level of effort it will take to reimagine, reestablish, reassess, rebuild, and advance very foundational federal agency infrastructure in the United States post-2028 (assuming we get there). With the level of gutting that has occurred, even getting to a baseline stabilization will be a herculean effort that will require the most resilient, creative, and humble (because there will be mistakes made) minds. This is not to speak about what it will take to advance beyond just cauterizing the wounds. Career administrators won't be enough. MBAs won't be enough. Mckinsey/Bain/BCG consultants won't be enough. IDEO won't be enough. Ex FAANG techies won't be enough. Ivy league PhDs won't be enough. Anthropic and OpenAI won't be enough. Hold onto your butts - this will need to be a concerted nation-state building effort the likes of which this country has not seen in generations (think New Deal level).
This is one of the things that keeps me up at night the most. This will be generationally critical work, but some of those most critical things will need to be isolated and addressed immediately. Any political leader who says otherwise is lying.
We need builders. Everyone will have to [nation] build. Metaphorically and tangibly.
